May 16, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Tony Pena’s first game as the Royals manager ended with a loss. The Royals fell to the Twins 8-6, despite a comeback. Down 3-0 early on, Kansas City scored a run in the 3rd, two more in the 4th and took the lead in the 5th, thanks to Mike Sweeny’s solo homer. But Minnesota rallied for four in the 6th. Dan Reichert got the loss in relief. Jacque Jones hit two home runs for the Twins. Kansas City and Minnesota go at it this afternoon at 1:05, wrapping up a three-game series.
