Many communities in the state are gearing up for high river levels after heavy storms dumped several inches of rain on areas already saturated. Officials with the US Army Corps of Engineers say at least 14,000 sandbags have been requested. State Emergency Management Agency Director Jerry Uhlmann says more rain this week could be the last thing some areas need. Uhlmann says his agency is out there evaluating damage from the past weekend’s storms, and they’ll be able to tell more if the river levels get the chance to drop for four or five days.
