Children’s health insurance program extended

May 14, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

A children’s health insurance program that expands Medicaid to cover children in families making up to 300 percent of poverty has been extended by the State Legislature. Critics claim the program is too costly to the state, and one critic says it has been used by the state to expand Medicaid coverage of adults who could afford other insurance. Nonetheless, the bill passes easily and heads to the Governor.
