The State Economic Development Department will give 28 workers their walking papers June 3rd. The layoffs come from the closing of the seven regional economic development offices located throughout the state and the closing of the state film office. Another 12 unfilled positions will beeliminated. Spokesman Jim Grebing says this is just part of the major budget cuts the Department has had to suffer for the coming fiscal year. Grebing says workers have known they could be on the chopping block since the budget process began. Official notifications go out this week.
