Missouri NEA Marks National Teacher Day Talking Funding For Schools

May 7, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri National Education Association is marking National Teacher Day, today, in part by hoping lawmakers in Jefferson City come through with the full funding for schools. The group’s president, Greg Jung, realizes the $175-Million to $200-Million increase is school funding comes at a time when many other state programs are suffering cuts. And, Jung makes no apologies for education being the top priority, even above senior citizen programs and law enforcement. He believes if some are some tax breaks given to companies are eliminated, that could help get funding for the other programs.
