Former SMS women’s basketball coach Cheryl Burnette decided to turn down an offer from the University of Minnesota. Burnette apparently was concerned about possible NCAA sanctions against the program. Cheryl Littlejohn was head coach at the time and left shortly thereafter. Burnette also had concerns about the Athletic Director’s job that is still vacant…..The SMS Lady Bears are still in search of a replacement for Burnette. Connie Yori decided to turn down the SMS’s offer and stay at Missouri Valley Conference rival Creighton.
