The group collecting signatures to put a 55-cent-per-pack cigarette tax on the November ballot claims it has the signatures needed to put the issue to a vote of the people. Citizens for a Healthy Missouri says it’s collected approximately 123,000 names – many more than the 78,000 needed. The signatures are being turned into the Secretary of State’s Office. Once those names have been verified, the issue will be ready to be placed on the November ballot.
