Royals Still Winless Under Mizerock

May 2, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals blew a lead and lost to the Tigers 7-6. Corey Bailey gave up an RBI single in the seventh inning to Wendell Magee which proved to be the game winner. It was Bailey’s only earned run, but was charged with the loss. Dan Reichert gave up the six other runs, including four in the fifth inning. That rally erased a 4-2 Royal lead. The loss dropped Kansas City to 0-2 under interim manager Johnny Mizerock. They now head to Baltimore….Rookie pitcher Jeremy Affeldt will make his first major league start on Friday. Affeldt has made seven appearances out of the bullpen, compiling 18 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings with a record of 1-0.
