Audit Questions DED Administered Tax Credits

May 2, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Department of Economic Development is defending itself in light of concerns expressed in a state audit of tax credits administered by the Department. The audit finds the Department does not track the total dollar amount of tax credits issued but not yet redeemed. EconomicDevelopment Director Joe Driskill says there are legal barriers standing in the way of obtaining addition information regarding tax credits. For example, the Department is prohibited from obtaining certain performance information from those using a tax credit program, provided eligibility requirements have been met. Driskill adds the Department could do a more thorough job if it had more funding and more personnel.
