Holden Requests Damage Assessments For Storm Ravaged Counties

April 26, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Bob Holden is asking the State and Federal Emergency Management Agencies to conduct joint preliminary damage assessment surveys in Butler, Carter, and Madison Counties in the wake of tornadoes that hit the region this week. He’s also asking that similar surveys be conducted in Pulaski and Phelps Counties, which experienced flash flooding earlier in the month. Thursday, the Governor declared a state of emergency in Butler, Carter, and Madison Counties. He then took a tour of the tornado damage in the Poplar Bluff area, where 30 homes were destroyed.
