With St. Louis leading 3-1 in the botom of the eighth, Mo Vaughn drove in a run with a single to get the Mets within one. Albert Pujols smacked his fifth round tripper of the season in the top of the ninth to give the Redbirds their two-run lead back at 4-2. Tino Martinez had three hits and an RBI. Darryl Kile got his first win in four starts, he’s 1-0. Jason Isringhausen recorded his third save. The rubber game of the Cards/Mets series is tonight at 6:10. Rookie Josh Pearce makes his second start, he’s 0-0. He’ll face Steve Trachsel who’s 1-3.
