Former SMS Lady Bears basketball coach, Cheryl Burnett could be the next head coach for the University of Minnesota. The Springfield News-Leader reported this morning that UM contacted SMS, asking permission to talk to her. If Burnett gets the job it would be a perfect situation. All five starters will return to a team that went 22-8 last season and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. On Monday, Burnett resigned after fifteen seasons in Springfield.
