Affeldt Nearly Perfect In First Win

Rookie pitcher Jeremy Affeldt pitched 3 2/3’s innings on Wednesday to grab his first Major League win, as the Royals topped the Tigers 8-2. The 21-year old struck out five, walked one and gave up no hits. He relieved Chirs George in the sixth inning. The Royals also got some fine performances at the plate. Nefi Perez drove in three runs, including a two-run double in the sixth inning to put the Royals on top 3-2. Later in the inning, Carlos Febles drove in Brent Mayne who plowed over Tiger cathcer Mike Martinez at the plate to make it 4-2. Kansas City rallied for three more runs in the seventh. The Royals grabbed two of three from Detroit. They face the Orioles at the “K” tomorrow.
