Tigers Turn Table on Royals

April 24, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals got a taste of their own medicine on Tuesday. A night after Paul Byrd shut out the Tigers, Detroit starter Jeff Weaver shut out the Royals. Weaver allowed only five Kansas City hits, going the distance for the 3-0 win. The Royals got a decent performance from Jeff Suppan, who’s only stumble was a three-run homer off the bat of Randall Simon in the third inning. That hit accounted for the game’s only runs. Suppan, Cory Bailey, and Jason Grimsley gave up just five hits on the night. Suppan dropped to 1-3. The Royals and Tigers play the rubber game of the series this afternoon at 1:05 in Kansas City.
