Matt Morris’ perfect 4-0 mark wasn’t enough to propel the Carinals past the Mets. The Redbirds blew a 2-0 first inning lead to lose 4-3. It was their fifth straight defeat. Albert Pujols was responsible for getting St. Louis on the board with a two-run homer, his fourth. But Morris allowed three runs in the bottom of the first to give the Mets the lead. In the second, Morris helped himself out with an RBI double. But he gave up the go ahead run in the 5th. He dropped to 4-1, striking out 10. The Cards and Mets do it again tonight at 6:10 at Shea.
