A jail inmate whose breakout attempt last year left two jailers dead has cut a deal with prosecutors to avoid the death penalty. Roy Vance will let a judge decide his case. No jury will be called. He’s charged with twomurders, attempted escape, and armed criminal action. One of those involved, Michael Tisius, already has been sentenced to death. The other, Tracy Bullington – who was Vance’s girlfriend – had earlier agreed to testify in the case, and plead guilty to second-degree murder. She could get life, with parole possible after 25 years.
