Senate Debates? Not Yet!

April 11, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The debate over debates has begun. Former St. Louis Congressman Jim Talent has challenged Senator Jean Carnahan to debates through their Senate campaign. Carnahan has declined, saying the two candidates shouldn’t even consider debates until after the August primary. Carnahan says debating before the primary would be disrespectfull to their primary opponents and she points out that whenTalent was a candidate for governor he held that same stance. Talent had proposed two debates a month, May through October.
