Boston Homers Past Royals

April 10, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Royals starter Dan Reichert (0-2) allowed four home runs, as the Boston Red Sox thumped Kansas City 8-4 at Fenway Park. Brian Daubach, Manny Ramirez, Nomar Garciaparra and Jason Varitek all homered for Boston. The only runs for Kansas City scored on a grand slam by Chuck Knoblauch. Royals hitters collected five hits, and walked only once. Rookie pitcher Jeremy Affeldt was a bright spot for Kansas City, shutting out Boston for two innings, and striking out two batters.
