Royals demote Brown

March 28, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

So much for the “youth movement” in Kansas City. The Royals have sent outfielder Dee Brown to the minor leagues to start the season, because they want veteran journeyman Michael Tucker on the roster instead. Brown says he’s “upset” by the demotion because he wanted a chance to improve himself at the major league level. The Royals want him in the minors, where he’ll play every day. With players like Tucker, Joe Randa, Donnie Sadler and Dave McCarty–all veterans with few offensive skills, the Baseball Prospectus calls the Royals the “franchise of players the Salvation Army makes you keep, with a court order if necessary.”
