Surprise Inspections Show Missouri Crematories Following The Law

March 27, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The disturbing news that hundreds of bodies were found at a crematory in Georgia has prompted investigators in Missouri to conduct a series of surprise inspections at 35 establishments performing cremations. The State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors says the inspections have found no cases of wrongdoing. All of the facilities are operating in accordance with state law. The Board usually inspects the facilities at least once a year, but the outcry over the Georgia story led officials to conduct the surprise visits. Missouri has 723 licensed funeral establishments and 35 of them are licensed to provide cremations.
