Ford is unveiling the next vehicle to be built at the doomed Hazelwood factory. The Lincoln Aviator is described as a midsize luxury SUV. Its closest competitors are the Mercedes M-Class, the BMW X-5; the Lexus RX-300, and the Acura MDX. But Ford admits consumer demand for the Aviator won’t be enough to keep the Hazelwood plant open. Ford had announced earlier this year it would be closing the plant sometime in the middle of the decade.
