House Approves Two Holden Education Measures

March 13, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Holden wins twice in the Missouri House as the body approves a measure crucial to his pledge to fully fund public schools and another to hold schools more accountable. The funding bill delivers the amount needed to provide the $177-Million necessary to fully fund education. Holden has touted the accountability measure as a way to help those performing poorly, while highlighting those performing well. While the issues passed the House, they failed to meet the totals necessary for them to take effect immediately upon the Governor’s signature. That would delay the new sources of revenue until about two months into the new fiscal year. Both measures now move to the Senate.
