Republicans Blast Holden Money Plan

March 5, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Governor’s plan to use state reserve funds to avoid deep cuts in 15 programs he considers essential faces a roadblock from House Republicans who say the state has to stop spending so much money. Republican leaders in the House say the Governor is on thin ice constitutionally by declaring a state government fiscal emergency. And theycharge his plan to spend rainy day funds could only make things worse next year because the legislature has to find money to pay back some of those expenditures while also finding money to keep programs going.
