Casino Revenue Generating Plan Moving Through Legislature

March 1, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Bob Holden wins one of two; the gambling industry takes a double loss. A House committee has rejected the Governor’s request to throw out the state’s loss limit for casinos, but has voted to increase casino taxes. One casino lobbyist says having the tax increase without letting people lose more money could put some casinos out of business. One Representative says he voted against eliminating the loss limit because casinos pay their employees poorly, and he sees no reason to let them do that while making more money.
