Members of the State Highway Patrol gathered today at the State Capitol in Jefferson City to raise awareness about their pay concerns. The troopers feel they are underpaid and say that situation is preventing many good candidates from entering the Highway Patrol. Sergeant Tim Tinnan, President of the Misosuri State Troopers Association, says the cities and towns start out with roughly the same pay as the Highway Patrol, but the pay of the cities and towns gets better after a while. The starting salary for a State Trooper is $31,000.
