Washington lawmakers return to Capitol Hill today, following their Presidents’ Day break, and one of the big pieces of legislation they’ll tackle happens to be one of Senator Bond’s top priorities – election reform. The election reform effort is driven by several voting-relatedcontroversies of late. Among them – the Florida fiasco and the balloting irregularities in St. Louis. Senator Bond says it’s time to clean up the process. Bond says there are still parts of this country in which the electoralprocess is tainted by corruption. He says this election fraud has allowed criminals, non-citizens, the non-living, and even animals to vote. Bond insists this issue will not be shoved to the back burner. He says anyone wanting to water down the legislation will have to explain to theAmerican people why they don’t want to make it tougher to cheat at the polls.
