Governor Bob Holden has appointed Richard Teitelman, a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, to the State Supreme Court. Teitelman will replace Judge John Holstein, who is stepping down on March 1st. Teitelman will become the first legally blind judge to serve on the state’s highest court. The 54-year-old St. Louis resident was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1997 by Governor Mel Carnahan. Teitelman, originally from Philadelphia, earned his law degree at Washington University in St. Louis and received a bachelor’s degree in math from the University of Pennsylvania.
