Employers and rallies – the two don’t usually mix. But concerns about Missouri’s workers’ compensation system brought more than 200 employers from throughout the state to the State Capitol … for a rally. The event was organized by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Dan Mehan says that while workers’ compensation claims have decreased in recent years, there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of awards, penalties, and reports of abuse in the system. Employers are looking for several reforms in the system, including legislation that would limit the ability of administrative law judges to interfere in agreed-upon settlements.
