State prison inmate Joseph Amrine has not been given an execution date, yet. And, some of his supporters are hoping for a pardon from Governor Holden before he does get a date. Amrine faces execution for the fatal stabbing of another inmate at the state penitentiary in 1985. His lawyers say three inmates who testified against him in his trial now say they lied. The federal appeals court in St. Louis has rejected those arguments as grounds for a new trial. The United States Supreme Court has refused toconduct another hearing.
