Republicans from throughout Missouri have descended on Springfield this weekend for the party’s Lincoln Days gathering. Among those addressing the party faithful is Montana Governor Marc Racicot, the new Chairman of the Republican National Committee. Former St. Louis area Congressman Jim Talent, who’s challenging Senator Jean Carnahan for her U.S. Senate seat, says he’s received quite a boost from the get together. Talent says it’s important for him to talk to GOP supporters, get them excited about the election, and make sure they vote on Election Day. The Carnahan-Talent match-up is one of the most closely watched Senate battles being waged this year. It’s attracting interest from all over the country.
