A public opinion poll conducted by the Garin-Hart-Yang polling firm shows the race for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat is very close, but it gives Democrat incumbent Jean Carnahan a slight lead over Republican Jim Talent. The survey, taken between January 25th and 28th, gives Carnahan 49 pecent support, compared to 44 percent for Talent. Seven percent of those surveyed are undecided. This poll comes on the heels of another poll giving former St. Louis area Congressman Talent a 2 percentage point lead among all voters surveyed.
