The Kansas City Royals and second baseman Carlos Febles have agreed to a one-year, 775-thousand dollar deal. In the process the two sides avoid arbitration. Febles hit .236 during an injury-riddled 2001 season, playing just 79 games. This settlement leaves the Royals with just one pending arbitration case, shortstop Neifi Perez. That hearing is scheduled for Friday.
