Budget Recommendations Dismissed by House Budget Chairman

February 11, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

A private commission makes recommendations for those putting together the state budget – recommendations that the House Budget Committee Chairman sees as nothing new. A member of the commission, James Thomas, says the group dealt with process, not policy. It suggests the state make better revenue projections, a suggestion that House Budget Chairman Tim Green of St. Louis shrugs off. He says the state already works hard to make good estimates of themoney coming to the state. Green also says the other tworecommendations: greater legislative oversight and a thorough review of core budgets have already been undertaken by the Legislature.
