A month into the legislative session, House Democrats outline their agenda. House Speaker Jim Kreider of Nixa understands budget concerns dominate this legislative session. Kreider calls the agenda of the majority party in the House aggressive: Secure the $220-Million needed to fully fund the school financial formula, which will require cuts elsewhere. Democrats pledge to fund the new senior citizen prescription drug program, but say they will get a break because its projected cost is lower the the program it replaces. Homeland security and transportation also rank high. Off the agenda of House Democrats – anything about Governor Holden’s plans to tap the Rainy Day Fund and increase gambling revenue to shore up the budget. Kreider concedes the caucus hasn’t reached concensus on those.
