January 21, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Funeral services have been held in Lebanon for Highway Patrol Trooper Kelly Poynter, who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning in Texas County as he worked at the scene of another accident. Governor Bob Holden was among those attending the funeral. He spoke to those in attendance, calling Trooper Poynter a hero for protecting others and putting himself in harm’s way the morning of the fatal accident. Julie Hartman of Houston has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in Poynter’s death.
