A Highway Patrol officer has been hit and killed while working at an accident scene in southern Missouri’s Texas County. Patrol Spokesman Chris Ricks says trooper Kelly Poynter, who lived in Houston, was hit by a car that came upon the accident scene and could not stop. Poynter was 27. He had been a trooper about six years.
