Senator Jean Carnahan is stepping up efforts to fight Missouri’s methamphetamine problem. And, it’s a daunting task. Methamphetamine wasn’t very well known a decade ago but times have changed. Senator Carnahan says it’s now an epidemic. She says there were 2,000 meth busts in Missourilast year, compared to only three in 1992. Carnahan says it’s important for law enforcement officials fighting the problem to have the tools needed to wage the war. And, that means all the federal money that can be sent Missouri’s way. The Senator says fighting drugs requires the same commitment given to the war on terrorism.
