Senate Leader Warns Support Is Needed For Ballpark Proposals

January 9, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The 2002 session of the Legislature has begun with Senate Leader Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau telling supporters of stadium projects in Kansas City and St. Louis they need to broaden their pitches to lawmakers if they want state help in building or maintaining their sports facilities. Kinder indicates he favors the ideas, but thinks some things might have to be done to build support. Kinder has little patience for those who refer to stadium aid from the state as “corporate welfare.”
