Ozzie Smith is headed to Cooperstown. The St. Louis Cardinals great, considered one of the finest fielding shortstops in baseball history, has been voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was Smith’s first year of eligibility, and he was chosen on 91.7 percent of the ballots cast. Smith won thirteen Gold Gloves while playing for the Cardinals and the San Diego Padres. He is the only player voted into the Hall this year.
