Senator Carnahan is in the midst of a visit by a U.S. delegation to the war zone in America’s fight against terrorism. It’s been a whirlwind tour for the Senators, meeting with the people of the war zone countries as well as with U.S. troops stationed there. Senator Jean Carnahan is part of the delegation, with has met with Afghanistan’s interim leader Hamid Karzai. She’s optimistic about the country’s future with Karzai playing a role. Carnaham says he has taken steps to restore democracy to the ravaged country. Carnahan says the fight against terrorism is going to be an ongoing work that will continue for years to come. She says the U.S. and its allies have chopped away at the branches of terrorism, but there is now a need to get to the root of it.
