State Auditor Claire McCaskill has announced she will seek re-election to a second term. McCaskill was first elected to the post in 1998. Prior to that, she served as prosecutor in Jackson County and as a State Representative. She has made no secret of the fact she is considering a run for Governor in 2008. So far, no Republican has come forward to announce plans to run for the Auditor’s office. McCaskill has produced hundreds of audits since moving into the Auditor’s office.
