MoDOT Suffering From Economic Recession

Economic recession has crimped revenue to the Missouri Department of Transportation, just at a time that more is being asked of MoDOT. In testimony recenly before a House budget subcommittee, Transportation Department Director Henry Hungerbeeler lamented the slowing of gas tax revenue into state coffers. Revenue has fallen $43-million short of projections. Things might have been worse. But MoDOT gets some of its money from vehicle sales tax, and zero percent financing has fueled strong car sales.
