Missouri’s U.S. Senators agree they’re disappointed over the failure of the Senate to pass an economic stimulus package. But they’re at odds over who is to blame for the failure. Senator Christopher Bond blames Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota for refusing to allow the measure to come to the floor for a vote. He claims it’s a case of partisan politics. Democrat Jean Carnahan, while disappointed there will be no stimulus bill before the Christmas break, believes the package passed by the U.S. House did not do enough to help unemployed and underemployed workers. The Senate is expected to try again in the new year.
