Missouri Congressman Hopes To Move Up On Capitol Hill

December 17, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt will run for the number three post among Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives after Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas retires. Blunt has moved up the leadership ladder quickly since he went to Washington five years ago. He currently serves as Deputy Whip. He’s the assistant to Whip Tom DeLay of Texas, who is expected to run for the Majority Leader post. Whether Blunt could move into the new position depends a great deal on whether Republicans maintain majority status after the 2002 elections.
