Governor Bob Holden is keeping his cards close to his vest. He is not yet ready to to commit state money for a Kansas City downtown development project that reportedly includes a new downtown arena. Mayor Kay Barnes’ reported proposal is said to come with a price tag of $1-Billion, and she would like to see part of the tab picked up by the state. Governor Holden says he wants to see the entire proposal before he agrees or disagrees with any request for state dollars. The Mayor officially unveils the plan on Friday morning.
