Missouri’s senior U.S. Senator is maintaining his call for an income tax holiday to boost the nation’s ailing economy. Bond wants Capitol Hill lawmakers to move quickly on this economic package. The proposal in the U.S. Senate, which would provide many Americans with a tax holiday – a break from federal taxes in December – seems to be gaining momentum among both Democrats and Republicans. Bond says it is not a plan to help the wealthy, as the benefits would be limited to individuals earning under $80,000 a year. Bond says if the plan is not passed in time for December’s payroll, the knowledge that it will take effect in January should be enough to send many people to stores during the all important holiday shopping season.
