The Arizona Diamondbacks eliminated the St. Louis Cardinals from the first-round of the playoffs this postseason by winning the decisive fifth game of the series in the bottom of the ninth. It’s a formula the D-Backs seem to have perfected. Arizona won the World Series last night by taking Game #7 over the New York Yankees 3-2. Arizona rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth off Yankees closer Mariano Rivera. Lusi Gonzalez knocked in the game winning run with an RBI single. Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling were named co-MVP’s of the series.
