Lawyers Ask for Delay in Nelson Sentencing Phase

November 2, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Lawyers for Keith Nelson have asked a federal judge in Kansas City for a two-month delay in the sentencing part of his murder trial. Nelson is the man who admits he kidnapped 10-year-old Pamela Butler in Kansas City, Kansas, then sexually abused her and murdered her in Grain Valley, Missouri. His lawyers say Nelson needs to undergo psychiatric testing since he tried to kill himself last week. A jury has to decide if he’ll go to prison for life, or be executed.
