Traces of Anthrax Found in Kansas City

November 1, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Authorities say preliminary tests are positive for anthrax in some trash bags at the stamp fulfillment services center in Kansas City, a US postal service facility in a underground warehouse near the Worlds of Fun amusement park. The facility receives mail from the Brentwood postal facility in Washington, D.C. which has been found to be contaminated. A shipment from that facility, 14 trays containing 7,000 pieces of mail, has been isolated. About 200 people work at the Kansas City facility. All are being contacted by the Kansas City Health Department. None are believed to have been infected. Public health officials don’t believe anthrax traces discovered pose a threat to the public.
