With Winter Approaching, Some Still Face Huge Heating Bills

October 30, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Thousands of households in Missouri still owe money from last winter and some have been disconnected from natural gas supplies. The Public Service Commission is concerned its Cold Weather Rule won’t help them this winter. PSC Chairman Kelvin Simmons says some organizations that have helped pay-down mounting utility bills in the past are short of money this year, because the huge heating bills of last winter drained their funds. The PSC will hold a public hearing tomorrow afternoon at its Jefferson City office to consider revising the Cold Weather Rule in an effort to help those still struggling with year-old unpaid bills.
